Our story

Named for the first Dr. Visco.

People ask why a practicing robotic surgeon would start a medical device company. The answer goes back a lot further than the OR.

My father was a pediatrician. Everyone called him Nino. He died of lymphoma when I was nine, and he's the reason I went into medicine at all.

In 2013, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was a father of three young kids, suddenly staring at the same kind of loss I'd lived through as a boy. For years I'd told my children to take risks and chase what mattered to them. Sitting in that fear, I realized I hadn't been living by my own advice.

What scared me most wasn't failing. It was reaching the end and regretting I never tried. When that fear got bigger than the fear of failure, the decision made itself.

So I took the leap. I invented Safe-T-Secure®, the all-in-one positioner that secures a patient in about a minute, and I built a company around it. I named it NinoMed, for my dad.

My wife's cancer was caught early. She's cancer-free today. And every case Safe-T-Secure® makes a little safer feels like the right way to carry both of them forward.

What is a Trendelenburg patient positioner?
A Trendelenburg positioner keeps a patient from sliding toward the head of the table when the OR table is tilted head-down (the Trendelenburg position) — the standard position for robotic and laparoscopic pelvic surgery, including gynecologic, urologic, and colorectal procedures. Safe-T-Secure® is an all-in-one, single-use positioner that combines the foam, straps, sheet, and securing system into one integrated kit.
How fast is Safe-T-Secure® to set up?
Safe-T-Secure® is designed to completely stabilize a patient in less than one minute, saving an average of 15–20 minutes of OR setup time compared to assembling egg-crate foam, gel pads, arm boards, shoulder blocks, straps, and tape separately.
Do I still need arm boards, shoulder blocks, or tape?
No. The integrated design includes all the foam, hook-and-loop securing, and sheets necessary to secure a patient to the operating table — arms are tucked and protected without arm boards, and no shoulder blocks or tape are required.
Is it single patient use? What about infection control?
Yes — every Safe-T-Secure® is single patient use, with premium foam and a unique integrated impermeable perineal barrier designed to eliminate direct patient skin contact with the table and decrease the risk of potential contamination. It ships vacuum-sealed, five per case.
